February Gardening Tasks

February Gardening Tasks, it's the time of year when we start to plan for the garden for the coming year even if the weather is awful (which it usually is in the UK at this time of year).

If it's your first year growing your own produce or even if you just want to start out small we can provide some small tips of what we are doing here at Urban Grow UK.

Chitting - Why do it?

Chitting simply means encouraging the seed potatoes to sprout before planting. - Start early February. - Start the process approx 6 weeks before planting out. - Once the shoots are approx 1.5-2.5cm in length they are ready to plant out.

Planting Garlic

Garlic can be planted in early spring. We would recommend, mid February. Make sure purchase from a garden centre or bulb supplier. Individual cloves should be sown so the tips are approx 2.5cm below the well drained soil surface. Space approx 15cm apart and in rows approx 30cm width apart.
