Firstly Nestboxes are put up in the autumn period. The birds will then look for an ideal place to feed or roost.
Position approx 2.5m - 4m above the ground to ensure predators can't access the Nestbox. Ideally a clear flight path to the entrance. Position away from strong sunlight and prevailing winds or rain.
