Dean Bolton-Grant

I launched Urban Grow with the simple belief that every outdoor space, no matter how urban, deserves to feel alive.

We help homeowners, designers, and developers transform, gardens, terraces, rooftops, and public spaces with quality, design-led products built to last. Our focus is on durability, sustainability, and clean styles.

Urban Grow is about more than products, it’s about creating greener, more inspiring spaces and helping people reconnect with nature.

2022

A unexpected purchase

Urban Grow was born during the first lockdown as a small online retailer of garden sheds, greenhouses, and a handful of planters - perfect timing as everyone was spending more time at home! Shortly after, the business came into the hands of our current Managing Director, Dean, who saw the chance to build a sustainable British brand in the horticultural and outdoor living world. With just the business name, a web domain, and a mailing list in place, the adventure was ready to begin… and the challenge was on!

January 2023

A new look

Our first job was to give the business a fresh new look. While we couldn’t change the name, we wanted the brand to better reflect our ethos and the direction we’re heading in. Our now Commercial Director took on the challenge and, within just a couple of weeks, our new identity was brought to life.

Building the brand

The existing website was ready for a serious refresh, and so was the product range. While we’re still expanding the collection today, building that first new version of the site took time and plenty of effort. Even though we’re now two website generations on, we were incredibly proud of that first online presence as the new UG.

Jan 2024

Early recognition

One of the most exciting early milestones in our journey was being awarded ‘Best Gardening & Horticultural Furnishings Company in Yorkshire 2024’. We were incredibly proud of the progress we’d made, but having our hard work recognised in this way felt like a real moment and a wonderful boost.

August 2024

The first showroom

As the business grew, more customers wanted to see our pieces in person before deciding. We’d always imagined Urban Grow as more than just an online store, so finding the right showroom felt like a natural next step. When the opportunity came up at Newby Hall set within one of Britain’s most celebrated public gardens, it couldn’t have been a better fit. We moved in May 2024 and opened our first small showroom that August, marking an exciting new chapter for Urban Grow.

Jan 2025

Growing the team

With the new space giving customers room to browse, the business began to grow and it quickly became clear that we needed extra hands to support our customers. We also saw an opportunity to bring in marketing expertise to help us share our story and connect more meaningfully with our community. Our little acorn is starting to flourish.

May 2025

The second showroom

Before the carpets had even been properly worn in, an unexpected opportunity came our way in January 2025, the flagship showroom space in the Newby Hall stable block became available. We jumped at the chance to secure the much-needed extra space, and showroom number two was soon underway.

When it opened in May 2025, the expanded range on display drew in even more visitors, not to mention giving us the perfect excuse to throw a rather brilliant launch party!

Sept 2025

Our first show

In September 2025, we had the joy of joining the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show for the first time. We say “joined,” but really, we were lucky enough to be right on the showground, so we simply opened our doors to the event! It was a fantastic show, welcoming around 25,000 visitors.

Urban Grow was also proud to sponsor the show, as supporting local northern charities is close to our hearts. You’ll be able to catch us again at the Harrogate Spring Show in 2026, where we’ll once more be a show sponsor.

Jan 2026

Bringing marketing in-house

In January 2026, we welcomed our own Marketing Executive to the Urban Grow team. Bringing the role in-house has given us more time and focus to share what we do, connect with customers, and raise awareness of our services as the business continues to grow.

Since joining, our Marketing Executive has been helping to improve our online presence, create engaging content, and keep our marketing activity consistent across different channels. Having someone dedicated to marketing has made it easier for us to showcase our projects, share updates, and build stronger relationships with both existing and potential customers.

April 2026

The Spring Show

In 2026, we were proud to exhibit at the Harrogate Spring Flower Show, showcasing Urban Grow and offering a range of our products to the thousands of visitors attending the event. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet customers face-to-face, talk about what we do, and share our passion for gardening and outdoor living with fellow enthusiasts.

The show was a great success for us, with plenty of interest in our products and lots of positive conversations throughout the event. We enjoyed meeting both new and existing customers, answering questions, and helping visitors find products to enhance their own gardens. It was a brilliant few days and a great way to raise awareness of Urban Grow while being part of such a well-loved gardening event.
