Niwaki Mainichi Garden Snips
Niwaki Mainichi Garden Snips
Standard issue in Japan, where these are considered the everyday, go-to choice for lighter weight pruning, as well as floral use and general cutting back. The big chunky catch at the bottom has a crisp action that’s easy to use, even with cold wet hands or muddy gloves, and the spring is well secured and never accidentally pops out.
As with all Japanese snips, these have a simple direct action, resulting in a very clean, efficient cut. Yellow grips stand out in the garden, and are great for when they end up in the compost heap. Suitable for cuts of up to 5mm, depending on plant type and what you had for breakfast. Always have your snips at hand by adding the Niwaki Leather Holster, suitable for secateurs and snips!

Care & maintenance
We’re constantly finding new ways to become more sustainable, so we only select products that are built to last. We recommend that you use your weeding hoe correctly to extend its lifespan.
Use it correctly:
- Japanese steel is hard and sharp, and can be more brittle than some people are used to - it will chip if abused
- Do not cut wire, metal, stone, plastic or any other hard material (even bamboo fibres and some very hard woods, especially knots and burrs, can damage steel edges)
- Do not twist or apply uneven pressure
- Cut diagonally across branches (not straight across) so you cut along the fibres
- Pay attention to our maximum cut dimensions, and don’t overdo it (shears are not loppers)
- Use the base of the blades, not the tips, for heavier cuts
Keep it clean
- Remove leaf resin, rust and gunk with a Crean Mate and water
- Dry, wipe over with Camellia oil and store in a dry place

Garden tree
Niwaki means garden tree. Not very exciting, but it implies far more than that. Japanese gardens are landscapes, microcosms of nature, and the trees are all shaped to fit into those landscapes - there’s an awful lot of artistry and cultural heritage in there too. .
Quality assured
Gardening is held in high-esteem in Japan, and the quality and thoughtful design of Niwaki secateurs, pruning saws, digging tools, shears etc reflect this. You won't be dissapointed.
