Care & maintenance
We’re constantly finding new ways to become more sustainable, so we only select products that are built to last. We recommend that you use your weeding hoe correctly to extend its lifespan.
Use it correctly:
- Japanese steel is hard and sharp, and can be more brittle than some people are used to - it will chip if abused
- Do not cut wire, metal, stone, plastic or any other hard material (even bamboo fibres and some very hard woods, especially knots and burrs, can damage steel edges)
- Do not twist or apply uneven pressure
- Cut diagonally across branches (not straight across) so you cut along the fibres
- Pay attention to our maximum cut dimensions, and don’t overdo it (shears are not loppers)
- Use the base of the blades, not the tips, for heavier cuts
Keep it clean
- Remove leaf resin, rust and gunk with a Crean Mate and water
- Dry, wipe over with Camellia oil and store in a dry place

Warranty
2 year manufacturer's warranty
An ideal winter gardening glove with a thermal fleece lining to keep you hands warm and dry whilst still maintaining a great level of sensitivity and a snug fit. The nitrile outer coating has a lovely grip, and the latex coating is waterproof.
Fleece lined and rubber coated, these gloves are perfect for cold weather chores around the garden - they’ll keep your hands warm and dry, and show up well if you misplace them. Watch out for thorns though, as the waterproof coating isn’t thornproof. Each glove size has an individual cuff colour and Japanese kanji, be sure to order the correct size rather than your preferred colour.
Clean. Oil. Snip
Elevate your garden game: maintain like a master
Maintaining Niwaki tools is simple with the right care. After use, clean blades with Clean Mate, keep them lubricated with Camellia oil, and periodically sharpen using Niwaki sharpening stones. This routine ensures your shears, saws, and pruners stay precise, durable, and ready for effortless garden work season after season.
