Care & maintenance

We’re constantly finding new ways to become more sustainable, so we only select products that are built to last. We recommend looking after your bronze tool correctly so it lasts a life time.

  • Avoid prolonged direct exposure to sunlight and always keep the wooden handle dry.
  • Avoid contact with chemicals containing acetic acid, this will cause the formation of verdigris.
  • It is good practice to oil the handles from time to time. You can use teak oil, linseed oil, Danish oil, Tung oil, whichever you prefer.
  • Don't wash the handles, as the water will cause the wood to shrink as it dries.
  • Don't overwinter in heated rooms, the handles dry out too much and can become loose.

Ideal for cutting and peeling chestnuts, as well as peeling garlic or quickly removing stones

This handy little pocket knife is used for cutting and peeling chestnuts, as well as peeling garlic or quickly removing stones and pits from fruit by making an incision. It's also ideal for preparing jams and tarts!

Its small size means it fits easily into your pocket and its short, pointed and curved 40mm blade is easier to handle than a long blade. The blade is stainless steel and corrosion-resistant. The beech wood handle is comfortable in the hand. The security system, the Virobloc®, locks the blade in open position and closed position. A knife for nature-loving foodies!

Tools that last a lifetime

Premium hand tools with added benefits

Copper garden hand tools offer excellent performance and natural benefits. Durable and corrosion-resistant, they’re ideal for digging, weeding, and cultivating soil with precision. Copper won’t rust like traditional steel, making it long-lasting and low maintenance. An added advantage is its natural slug-deterrent quality, slugs and snails avoid contact with copper, helping protect surrounding plants as you work.

OJ Bron

Handmade copper garden hand tools

Handmade by artisans

OJ Bron gardening tools are made in Slovenia by a family of traditional artisan coppersmiths. The tool heads are made of solid bronze, copper with a little bit of tin. Other parts are pure copper, brass and other copper alloys.

Made to last

OJ Bron tools are hard wearing and will last for years. Their sharp edges mean they slice into the soil, with minimal effort and disruption. The tools do not rust; looked after well, they will last a lifetime and that's why all OJ Bron tools come with a 12 year guarantee.

Natural slug deterrant

OJ Bron garden tools are not a magic solution or a definitive deterrent against slugs and snails, however years of experience using bronze tools has revealed a significant reduction.

Easy to maintain

OJ Bron tools are designed for longevity and ease of use, making maintenance simple. High-quality copper blades stay sharp longer. After use, a quick wipe and occasional oiling keeps your Oj Bron hand tools performing like new, ensuring your garden work remains effortless and precise.
