Care & maintenance
We’re constantly finding new ways to become more sustainable, so we only select products that are built to last. We recommend looking after your bronze tool correctly so it lasts a life time.
- Avoid prolonged direct exposure to sunlight and always keep the wooden handle dry.
- Avoid contact with chemicals containing acetic acid, this will cause the formation of verdigris.
- It is good practice to oil the handles from time to time. You can use teak oil, linseed oil, Danish oil, Tung oil, whichever you prefer.
- Don't wash the handles, as the water will cause the wood to shrink as it dries.
- Don't overwinter in heated rooms, the handles dry out too much and can become loose.
Warranty
Lifetime guarantee
A firm favourite among mushroom foragers and mycologists alike, the Opinel No.8 Mushroom Knife combines traditional craftsmanship with practical functionality. The lightweight beech handle offers comfortable grip control during extended foraging sessions, whilst the integrated boar bristle brush allows you to gently clean specimens in the field without damaging delicate caps or gills.
The blade features a distinctive toothed back edge, specifically designed for cleanly severing mushroom stems at soil level, a technique that preserves the mycelium for future fruiting. The sharp, curved cutting edge handles both firm and delicate varieties with precision. Whether you're identifying choice edibles or conducting field surveys, this knife represents an investment in quality that serious foragers have trusted for generations. Compact and durable, it's an indispensable addition to any mushroom hunter's kit.
Tools that last a lifetime
Premium hand tools with added benefits
Copper garden hand tools offer excellent performance and natural benefits. Durable and corrosion-resistant, they’re ideal for digging, weeding, and cultivating soil with precision. Copper won’t rust like traditional steel, making it long-lasting and low maintenance. An added advantage is its natural slug-deterrent quality, slugs and snails avoid contact with copper, helping protect surrounding plants as you work.
