Twine made from ethically sourced materials derived from sustainable crops

These Scottish Slate plant labels are available in two sizes and come in sets of four. Slate Plant Labels give a traditional look to your garden, utterly superb and tasteful.

The plant labels can be used in conjunction with our metal label stakes which are powder coated and are ideal to hang your labels on. Please note that slate is a natural material, (millions of years old!) therefore inconsistencies between labels might occur. Each label is handcrafted with a slate knife, please be aware of possible sharp edges when handling this product.

If desired, good natural oil may be rubbed on the surface of your slate to enhance its natural contours and pallor.

A rich heritage

Nutscene® has been involved in the manufacturing and processing of jute twines and ancillary products for the gardener since 1922. The company patented the first “pull from centre spool” of garden twine, which has been copied by many but never equalled. Our name is derived from our world renowned green garden twine which, when tied around the plant cannot be seen, thus “Not Seen” – ‘Nutscene‘.

Continued tradition

Today, Nutscene® is located a short drive away from the city of Dundee, in the rural county of Angus. Still using the original machinery first used by them back in 1922, Nutscene® still produces its own range of high quality garden twines and employs local people to do so.

Biodegradable

The eclectic range of practical products utilises natural materials wherever possible, incorporating FSC wood, biodegradable jute and recycled cotton twines. No plastic here!

Ethical sustainability

All materials are ethically sourced materials. Sustainable crops are at the heart of the company, jute in particular is an environmentally beneficial crop. Rain fed, fast growing, flourishes on wastelands and improves the soil for future crops; it also reduces CO2.
